Following the suspension of Kedarnath Yatra, Government of India is preparing packages for the toughest pilgrimage in India. The Shrikhand Kailash Yatra is expected to commence from July 17 onwards and a complete team of police official as well as medical personnel will be escorting the registered pilgrims in this tour. Because the Kedarnath Yatra was cancelled this year it is expected that an even more number of devotees will be registering for the Shrikhand Yatra.
Srikhand Mahadev Yatra is considered as most difficult trek. The approximate distance to be covered by foot is around 30 Kilometres. But once you start with Faith in Shiva, he will help you to reach at the top. All Yatri must keep warm clothes, water and few eatables with them.

After five pilgrims died last year in the course of this trek, the Indian government has taken special measures to ensure the safety of the pilgrims. This is why this year a complete team of police, temple administration, medical and search and rescue teams will be joining the yatris on the trek. The camps will be set after every short distance so that the pilgrims can replenish their energy. The trek will commence on July 17 after the holy “Chaddi” of Devi Bhimakali is brought on July 16 on the occasion of Dakshinayana Sankriti and then move to Singhad.

Srikhand Mahadev Yatra 2016 – Route
The yatra can be started from two routes, the most taken route is Nirmand (Kullu) and the second one is Rampur (Shimla). The yatra will begin from Singhad which will be the base camp for all the pilgrims. Located at 6000 ft. Singhad will be the starting point and the yatra will end at a height of 17,000ft. during the trek pilgrims have to cross glaciers, rivulets, steep mountain passes and 5-50 layers thick snow to reach the main temple. This complete trek will take at least 4 days. A complete medical team equipped with first aids, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, and emergency lights will be provided at every short distance. The pilgrims will be provided night stay and food facilities too.
Once the interested devotees have registered for the yatra through the online portals of various tour and travel companies, they will be put through a medical test. During the medical test to be conducted by the police officials they will be tested on their physical health and whether they can undertake this trek will be decided.
