Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a clean India initiative launched by the government of India on 2nd October 2014, the 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Through this campaign, the Narendra Modi led government aims to make India a clean India by 2nd October 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of the Mahatma.The scheme is being implemented to fulfil the dream and vision of Mahatma Gandhi of a clean India.
The scheme aims to cover all the rural and urban parts of the country. The mission focuses to create awareness among people about the need of keeping its ecology clean, encouraging better health practices, eradicating manual scavenging and educating people about the types of waste and their disposal. But the main focus of the theme is on completely eliminating open defecation.
Swachh Bharat Free Shauchalya/Latrine Yojana
According to a report by the UN India has the maximum number of people which defecate in the open. Almost 60 crores of 131 crore people in India defecate in the open which is nearly 50 percent of the country’s population. A study suggests that out of the total population of the world that defecates in open 60 percent of them live in India. These numbers highlight the urgent need of eliminating open defecation as it results in the spread of various diseases as well as leads to heinous crimes being committed against women.
Hence, creating India an open defecation free state is one of the major objectives of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. In order to achieve it, the Modi government has vowed to install 7.5 crore toilets across the country by Oct 2019. To achieve its aim the government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Toilet Nirmaan Yojana or the Swachh Bharat Shauchalaya Scheme under which the government will provide a sum of Rs 12000 for the construction of free toilets in houses which don’t have toilets.
How to Apply Online for Free Toilet Construction Scheme (All States)
In order to keep the process more transparent and corruption-free the government has provided for online registration.
Only the BPL(below poverty line) card holders can apply for the scheme.Those who want to register themselves have to visit the Official Portal
Muft Latrine/Sauchalya Scheme Online Application/Registration Form 2017-18
STEP 1: Firstly, you would have to click on the new applicant option which would open the new applicant registration form.
STEP 2: After filling the required details click on “Register”. You would be provided with your applicant ID after the registration process is complete.
STEP 3: For procuring the password click on “Applicant Get OTP” and then type your name and e-mail ID and henceforth click on “Send”. Your password will be sent to your registered mobile number and your e-mail ID.
STEP 4: After that log in with the e-mail ID and password provided. Swachh Bharat Toilet Application Form will open in your browser containing two parts, form A and form B.
STEP 5: Fill in details related to your resident in form A and your personal details like name, family member’s name, Aadhaar number, bank account details and photograph in form B
STEP 6: Click on Agree option after you have completed the form.
STEP 7: Click on Apply to submit your application.
STEP 8: After your application has been submitted an Acknowledgement slip would appear on your window which needs to be printed. You can keep track of your application status through this slip only.
