Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana 2015During the announcement of Budget-2015, Finance Minister Arun Jately mentioned that a new insurance scheme will be launched. Well, the same happened on 9th May 2015 when Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji announced the Insurance scheme namely Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana(PMSBY). In total 3 schemes were launched, two others were Atal Pension Yojana and Jeevan Jyoti Yojana. This article is focused on providing the complete details of PMSBY Scheme . Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana Scheme – Introduction

PMSBY Government Scheme will begin from 1st June 2015 till 31st May 2016. Eligible person joining this scheme need to pay Rs. 12 per year. This accident insurance scheme by Indian Government provides a cover of Rs. 2 Lakh to the family of the scheme holder in case of accident

Eligibility Details of Suraksha Bima Yojana Scheme

Age RequirementsMinimum - 18 years (Completed)
Maximum -70 years (Age Nearer Birthday)
Bank Account RequirementAll saving bank account holders in the age from 18 to 70 years are eligible to join
Note :
  • Bank Account should be linked with Aadhaar Card or The aadhaar card copy can also be attached with the application form
  • In case the individual is having multiple savings bank accounts, the person is eligible to join the scheme through single bank account only
  • Premium to be PaidRs. 12 annually (Per year)
    Premium Payment OptionsAuto Debit from the bank account of insured person
    Period/Validity of Scheme1 year and is renewable from year to year
    Primary KYCAadhaar Card of the Applicant

    Key Features of PM Suraksha Bima Yojana Scheme

    • This accidental insurance scheme launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has following features :
    • Accidental Death Insurance Cover which is renewable yearly
    • Annual Premium to be paid is Rs 12 only
    • Cover of upto Rs. 2 lakhs will be payable to the family of the subscriber in case of accident leading to death or serious injuries
    • Auto Deduction of Premium Amount from the bank account of the Insurance holder
    • Either the scheme holder can renew the scheme yearly or he/she can avail the long term option

    Benefits of Government PMSBY Scheme

    As this a scheme initiated by Indian Government it has it’s own benefits which can be attained by paying nominal fee. This initiative asks the individual to pay Just Rs. 12 annually and has following benefits :

    Enrollment Period of Suraksha Bima Yojana

    • Any individual who is interested in PMSBY scheme need to enroll and give their auto debit consent by 31st May 2015
    • Late Enrollment will be possible upto 31st August 2015. There is another good news that government had extended the scheme for 3 more months i.e. upto 31 Nov 2015

    Conditions leading to the termination of Cover in Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana

    • If scheme holder attains the age of 70 years
    • If bank account is closed due to insufficient balance in the account required as premium
    • In case the same member is covered through more than one accounts, insurance company will restrict the number of accounts to one only

    to be adopted y the banks. Suppose a person has given the form duly filled .
    Then ,what will the bank do to verify the particulars witch will involve time .

    I have three different Bank Saving Accounts. So I need to apply in all Bank for PMSBY SCHEME, OR in one is enough ? Please answer me.

      @DAYAMOY KABIRAJ, You can apply for the scheme in any of one bank, applying multiple times for scheme from different banks will lead to suspension.

      Only one bank is enough if you apply for more then one bank then your money will taken away by yogna

    FIRST I MUST CONGRATULATE THE PM FOR THE SCHEME AND THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING ANSWERS TO ALL THE QUESTIONS.BUT STILL I WOULD SAY THAT A BANK WITH A NATION-WIDE PRESENCE MUST BE SELECTED FOR THE SCHEME.HOW WOULD SOMEONE ENROLL IN THE SCHEME IN WEST BENGAL IF HE DOES NOT HAVE A SAVINGS BANK ACCOUNT IN UNITED BANK OF INDIA?
